Call for Teaching Artists

Grand Blanc Arts Council Community Art Program

The Grand Blanc Arts Council is seeking passionate, skilled artists to serve as instructors for our comprehensive community art certificate program. This unique initiative is designed to guide participants of all ages through the full journey of becoming an artist. Classes will range from foundational techniques and creative exploration to professional presentation and exhibition.

We are currently recruiting artists to teach classes across three levels: Foundation (Introduction to Art, Pencil & Charcoal Drawing, Nature Drawing, Art History), Development (Watercolor, Clay Sculpture, , Mixed Media, Museum-Based Learning), and Mastery (Framing & Preservation, Exhibition Preparation, The Business of Being an Artist, Open Studio mentorship, and Group Exhibition leadership).

We intend to not only teach participants how to create art, but also how to understand materials, care for their work, professionally display it, and confidently share it with the community. Each course contributes toward individual certificates of completion, culminating in a final program certificate.

We are looking for artists who:

* Demonstrate strong technical proficiency in their medium

* Have a passion for teaching and mentoring learners of varying ages and skill levels

* Value community engagement and collaborative learning

* Can provide structured lesson plans with clear skill outcomes * Are enthusiastic about helping students prepare for exhibition opportunities

Teaching artists will play a vital role in strengthening the cultural fabric of our community. This program emphasizes accessibility, real world learning, and artistic development. Instructors will have the opportunity to inspire emerging artists, connect with fellow creatives, and contribute meaningfully to a growing arts initiative within Genesee County.

If you are interested in sharing your expertise, shaping the next generation of artists, and being part of a program that blends creativity with community impact, we invite you to apply by clicking the link below.
